RapidMap wins Victorian Spatial Excellence Award 2009

Rapidmap is the proud winner of the ASIBA & SSI Spatial Excellence Award for 2009 in the "Infrastructure and Construction" category for Post Fire Recovery Coordination for Black Saturday bush fire crisis.

The Judges comments on winning the award were "The tragedy of the Black Saturday bushfires triggered an amazing response, from the public and from government agencies.

Nilumbik staffers swung into action to locate and deal with distressed animal, unsafe structures, water issues, sewerage problems and the like. The Councils’ prior experience with Iconyx's crest Software led to its adaption to new data capture tasks, enabling observations to be recorded along with photos, time, date, coordinates and property address.

The results were collated after download, mapped and passed, where appropriate, to other agencies.

The judges noted that the flexibility of the software and the innovation of the Nilumbik staff combined to enable the timely introduction of new data capture process."
